Evan S. Suemori, an associate at Ashford & Wriston, was admitted to the Hawai’i Bar in 2024 and joined the firm in 2025.

Evan focuses his practice on general civil litigation, business mergers and acquisitions, land use, and insurance defense. He is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in the State of Hawai’i and a member of the Hawai’i State Bar Association.

Prior to joining Ashford & Wriston, Evan served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable John M. Tonaki of the Circuit Court of the First Circuit, State of Hawai’i.

Evan earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa, Richardson School of Law in 2024 with an Environmental Law Certificate. In law school, Evan was a Kaplan Representative and a member of the Advocates for Public Interest Law and the Environmental Law Program. He also served as a legal extern for a local non-profit organization and solo practitioner, a research fellow for the University of Hawai’i Climate Resilience Collaborative, and a research assistant for Associate Professor and Co-Director of the Environmental Law Program, Richard Wallsgrove. Evan received the Bernard Levinson Best Constitutional Law Paper Award for his Second-Year Seminar paper.

Prior to law school, Evan earned a B.S. in Environmental Science with a minor in Sustainability from the University of Portland in 2019 and a P.S.M. in Environmental Science & Management from Portland State University in 2021.
