Scott Mitchell is an associate attorney at Ashford + Wriston, LLLP, whose practice focuses on commercial real estate transactions, construction and development, and renewable energy projects.
Mr. Mitchell represents developers, property owners, and businesses in a variety of commercial real estate matters. His practice includes acquisitions and dispositions, commercial leasing, title and survey review, due diligence, entity structuring, and other matters arising throughout the acquisition, development, ownership, and operation of real property. He also assists clients with real estate matters involving financing and the development of renewable energy projects in Hawaii.
Mr. Mitchell also works with developers, contractors, and other businesses in the construction industry on transactional and project-related matters. Drawing on his prior in-house experience with a national construction company, he assists clients with the review and negotiation of construction and commercial agreements and other legal issues arising in connection with development and construction projects.
In addition to his transactional practice, Mr. Mitchell represents clients in litigation disputes involving real property, including disputes arising from real estate transactions, ownership, development, and construction.
Prior to joining Ashford + Wriston, Mr. Mitchell served as Associate Counsel to Fidelity Building Services Group, a national provider of HVAC services, building automation, emergency power, and energy solutions. As the company’s second legal hire, he reviewed and negotiated commercial agreements for projects throughout the country and assisted with corporate transactions, real estate matters, acquisitions, governance, and compliance.
Mr. Mitchell has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Stevenson University, where he taught Business Organizations Law to undergraduate students.
Mr. Mitchell is a member of the Hawaii and Maryland State Bar Associations. Mr. Mitchell earned his J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 2023, where he served as Executive Articles Editor of the Journal of Business & Technology Law. He earned his B.S. in Public History, cum laude, from Stevenson University in 2020, where he was a member of the Men’s Lacrosse Team.
Mr. Mitchell is admitted to practice law in Hawaii and Maryland.
